FRIENDS OF LOUIS RIEL seek EXONERATION. Our position is that Riel should not have been accused in the first place, especially not of high treason under the terms of a medieval statute. Pardon is neither appropriate nor sufficient in this instance. Riel does not need to be forgiven for a crime because he did not commit a crime.
